Nemanja Bečanović

BIOGRAPHY
Nemanja Bečanović (1977) is a film director and producer. Graduated from specialist studies in film and television directing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Cetinje, and received his master's degree in 2022 from the production study program. His debut feature film "The Ascent" premiered in 2011 in the main program of the Saravevo Film Festival. Announced at the Raindance festival as a film with "the most shocking ending since the film Seven", it was declared the third best European film of that year by the editor-in-chief of Cineuropa, Domenico La Porta. In 2023, he finished the second long-awaited feature film "Supermarket", which had its premiere at the A category festival - Tallinn Black Night Film Festival in the main program of the Rebels Without Cause Competition selection, where provocative and experimental films of independent production are shown. He taught at FDU in Cetinje and at the University of Donja Gorica in the study program Film and Media. From 2017 to 2022, head of archives at the Montenegrin Cinematheque. In addition to his two feature films, he edited television documentaries and composed music for the feature film "Between Day and Night" (2018) and the theater plays "At Noah's Ark at Eight" (2016), "Ivo Vizin - Captain of Dreams" (2018), " The Case of the Broken Vase (2024). Wrote music reviews for "Monitor", "Pobjeda" and "Vijesti". Winner of the award of the Montenegro Film Festival in Herceg Novi for his contribution to Montenegrin cinematography.
