Following the death of his father, Marc Korovitch arrives in Montenegro to conduct the young National Orchestra. As the country prepares to join the European Union, he dreams of adapting Don Giovanni, but between Balkan traditions, logistical problems and the quest for his origins, nothing goes according to plan. So begins an odyssey as chaotic as it is passionate, to the sound of Mozart and turbo-folk.
Synopsis:
Marc Korovitch, a French conductor of Montenegrin origin, arrives in Podgorica to conduct the National Orchestra of Montenegro at a crucial time: the country is preparing to join the European Union. Still grieving his father, with the ambitious artistic project of adapting Don Giovanni, Marc has to deal with an inexperienced orchestra, Kafkaesque bureaucracy and recurring technical problems. He meets a number of colorful characters: Boris, his mad cap chauffeur and distant cousin; Verica, a pop violinist with international ambitions; Milan, a cellist and estate agent in search of stability; Marina, the orchestra’s manager who suffers from deafness and dreams of exile; Marko, the skeptical artistic director; and Miloš, an old guslar (traditional Montenegrin storyteller) a bit of a seer. Between chaotic rehearsals, professional exhaustion and personal doubts, Marc plunges into the reality of Montenegro: a daily life full of pitfalls in a society undergoing profound change. In the midst of a crisis, he disappears into former President Tito’s villa, seeking refuge from his responsibilities. But a Slava (traditional festival), accompanied by an epic song by a gusle player, marks his personal renewal. Marc regains control of his life. As the opera takes shape despite the chaos, each of the characters follows their own personal trajectory, reflecting the contradictions and hopes of contemporary Montenegro. Verica bounces back after her failure at Eurovision, Marina plans a new life in Sweden, and Milan obtains his Montenegrin nationality in extremis. The film culminates in a symbolic double scene: Marc climbing Njegoš’s mausoleum, as the orchestra prepares to give the premiere of Don Giovanni. At the top, facing the monumental statue, Marc confronts his destiny and his utopian vision: to build a prestigious opera house on the Montenegrin coast. As the first notes ring out, the question remains: will he be able to make this crazy dream come true? The curtain rises, leaving the characters and the country on the threshold of a new era.

SInopsis:
