Vladimir (38) has a heartfelt conversation with his lost brother, once thought dead at birth, revealing how the pain transformed his childhood and the lives of their parents - upon learning that the later one was actually stolen at birth to be sold to another family.
Synopsis:
The melancholy of an empty playground is a stage for a modified game of hide and seek between Vladimir (38) and his lost brother, where each takes turns to tell their story. Belgrade’s hiding places are part of Vladimir’s childhood, where the first glimpses of the existence of the lost brother emerged. His memories invite us to an animated presentation of the 90s in Belgrade. The societal erosion is visible, but a contrasting peace and harmony reins in Vladimir’s (10) family home. The neighboring kids are playing hide and seek. As Vladimir joins them, he is also hiding from the awfulness of the world: his hiding place is a metaphorical presentation of his psyche. He wins the game and heads home happily, yet puzzled by the question why hasn’t his mother called him for dinner, as usual. In the living room, Dobrila and Zivko, the parents, are struck by some news coming from the TV. A horrible crime has been revealed: newborns were stolen from hospitals by the medical crew, to be sold elsewhere. They had a firstborn that was taken away from them. They were told the baby died. Dobrila recognizes the situation and they start to doubt - has their firstborn survived and is living with another family? Dark fog emerges from the TV and devours the family, representing the changed circumstances. As Vladimir tries to make sense of everything, a confused seek for many answers is troubling him. He revisits some places from the hiding scene, but they’re abandoned and tinted in dark purple fog. The world has changed and Vladimir changes, too. The naivety of his childhood is evidently gone. Dobrila helps Vladimir reclaim his peace by providing warmth and presence. Still, everything has changed for the family and the previous joy is dimmed with lingering questions. Back at the opening documentary footage, we see Vladimir (38) alone on the playground - no brother next to him. He turns to the camera instead - inviting his brother to continue the search.

Vladimir (38) vodi iskren razgovor sa izgubljenim bratom, za kojeg se vjerovalo da je umro na rođenju, otkrivajući kako je bol obilježila njegovo djetinjstvo i živote njihovih roditelja, sve dok ne sazna da je brat zapravo bio ukraden na rođenju i prodat drugoj porodici.

Melanholija praznog igrališta postaje pozornica izmijenjene igre žmurke između Vladimira (38) i njegovog izgubljenog brata, u kojoj se smjenjuju dok pričaju svoje priče. Beogradska skrovišta su dio Vladimirovog djetinjstva, gdje su se prvi put pojavili tragovi postojanja izgubljenog brata. Njegova sjećanja nas uvode u animirani prikaz devedesetih u Beogradu. Erozija društva je vidljiva, ali u Vladimirovom (10) porodičnom domu vlada mir i sklad. Komšijska djeca igraju žmurke. Vladimir im se pridružuje, a ujedno se skriva i od užasa svijeta: njegovo skrovište postaje metafora njegove psihe. Pobjednik je igre i srećan kreće kući, ali ga muči pitanje – zašto ga majka, kao obično, nije pozvala na večeru? U dnevnoj sobi, roditelji Dobrila i Živko zatečeni su vijestima sa televizije. Otkriven je užasan zločin: novorođenčad su krali iz bolnica sami medicinski radnici, da bi ih prodavali dalje. Njihovo prvo dijete bilo je oduzeto. Rekli su im da je umrlo. Dobrila prepoznaje okolnosti i u njima se rađa sumnja - da li je njihovo prvorođeno dijete preživjelo i odraslo u drugoj porodici? Iz televizora izlazi tamna magla i obavija porodicu, simbolizujući promijenjene okolnosti. Dok Vladimir pokušava da sve razumije, muči ga zbunjena potraga za odgovorima. Obilazi mjesta svojih nekadašnjih skrovišta, ali su napuštena i obavijena tamnoljubičastom maglom. Svijet se promijenio, a s njim i Vladimir. Naivnost djetinjstva nestala je zauvijek. Dobrilina toplina i prisustvo pomažu mu da povrati mir, ali ništa više nije isto, radost je zamračena trajnim pitanjima. U povratku na uvodne dokumentarne snimke, vidimo Vladimira (38) samog na igralištu, brata nema pored njega. Okreće se ka kameri, kao da poziva brata da nastave potragu.
