A mother and son drift through the city’s cold streets, their only shelter a red car, as the shadow of the man they fled draws ever closer.

Happiness Is Just a Blue Couch Away follows Nataša, a mother fleeing her abusive husband, Petar, with her son, Uroš. When Petar threatens to kill her unless she returns the boy within an hour, their escape becomes a desperate fight for survival. With no home and little money, Nataša turns an old red Golf into their only refuge, taking cleaning jobs and later working as a delivery driver while staying out of sight in the streets of Podgorica.

Majka i sin lutaju hladnim gradskim ulicama, a jedino utočište im je crveni automobil, dok se sjenka čovjeka od kojeg su pobjegli neumoljivo približava.

Film prati Natašu, majku koja bježi od nasilnog muža Petra sa sinom Urošem. Kada joj Petar zaprijeti da će je ubiti ukoliko mu u roku od sat vremena ne vrati dječaka, njihov bijeg prerasta u očajničku borbu za opstanak. Bez doma i sa malo novca, Nataša stari crveni Golf pretvara u jedino utočište. Zarađuje radeći poslove čišćenja, a kasnije i kao dostavljačica, skrivajući se na ulicama Podgorice.
