Nikola Mijović

BIOGRAPHY
Nikola Mijovic was born in Podgorica, Montenegro, where he recorded his first experimental video works. After graduating from Central Saint Martins in London, he directed several short films, including ‘777’, which was acquired by the FMA Foundation (Sao Paulo) for their museum collection. He attended postgraduate studies at Konstfack University in Stockholm and has been working in the field of film studies, with particular focus on the Yugoslav and post- Yugoslavian film; trans/national cinemas; film, fashion and digital media. His writing has been published in numerous publications, including the anthology ‘Cinema of the Balkans’ (Walflower Press), and the journals ‘Film, Fashion and Consumption’ (Intellect Books) and ‘Cineaste’ (U.S). He works as a Senior Lecturer at University of the Arts in London. Nikola’s first feature film, ‘Borders, Raindrops’ (as co-screenwriter, co-director and co-producer) was shot in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia. Following its 2018 premiere in Sarajevo, it has been screened at over twenty international festivals, including Montreal, Gothenburg, Cottbus, Raindance and Bergamo.
