Two Berlin tourists and their new friend live through a sensual night set in a thumping and violent Podgorica, as a layover adventure escalates into a gang chase and a fight for survival.
Synopsis:
Magda, a war journalist, and Selim, a tattoo artist, meet at an airport during an unexpected layover on their way to Istanbul. Turning inconvenience into opportunity, they decide to explore Podgorica, Montenegro's capital. After a wild cab ride downtown, they encounter Sasha, a charismatic local who becomes their impromptu guide for the night. The trio are briefly joined by Sasha's friend, Milena, before heading for a hill-top view of the city. They share fragments of their lives and briefly become apparent that they are each seeking escape from their personal troubles. Their spontaneous camaraderie immerses them into the city's vibrant blend of Balkan heritage and Western modernity. As the evening evolves, Magda's warzone traumas, Selim's disillusionment and Sasha's hidden regrets converge into a shared Carpe Diem mentality as the intellectual subtly shifts into the sensual. They move to a renowned nightclub, where the irresistible euphoria and atmosphere push Magda and Selim's chemistry into a passionate encounter. Meanwhile, Sasha's pursuit of Milena turns fatal after a fatal accident - killing a local crime lord during a surprise cocaine duel in the club's restrooms. This sets off a dangerous chase by the city's crime syndicate. Despite a near-rescue by their well-eyed cab driver from earlier, Magda and Selim are kidnapped. Sasha however, driven by loyalty and desperation, manages to rescue his new partners with the help of Milena, his childhood friend and lifelong flame - who is now revealed to be a local gangster's daughter. He sacrifices himself as Magda and a wounded Selim guide Milena to the airport where they catch their flight. Grateful to have held onto their lives, a passenger seated next to them comments how boring the city of Podgorica is and how nothing ever really happens in Montenegro.
